For anyone reading this blog for the first time, let me give you a little back round behind MOTIVATIONAL SELLING-SELLING THE DREAM. If your unfamiliar, it's a selling technique that can be used to sell anything. When I say anything, I'm even talking about opinions, the need to be in sales as a profession is not must. At work you'd like to give an idea to the boss or your married and you'd like your significant other to see your side of the story (I haven't mastered this yet), you will be able too. It's about creating an image for the person or organization your speaking to, that if they use your product or services their lives will change for the better. You can create the wind through their hair, if your selling a convertible.
Motivating customers to a new way of life is not as complex as you might think, you create a need by asking questions and getting your prospect to dream using their imagination. There is a point where it is practically impossible to use "Motivational Selling" as a technique, it's when your not motivated yourself.
Just like selling anything you must believe in what your selling, so you need to start with most important person, yourself. You're number one, never forget this. This is your time to be selfish. The need to be constantly improve in life is a must. Motivation is what we sell, naturally since it's free to learn you should be mastering this skill as soon as possible. One problem, our mind often get in the way, we can get quite comfortable doing absolutely nothing starring at a television wasting our whole day away. I'm going to give you some simple things I've been using to achieve better thinking.
Goal setting- What do you want in life, daily, monthly or in a year from now? Always thrive towards these things, I've been using a method I've learned from Brian Tracy, a great business trainer and motivator. Either do this every morning when you wake up or right at bed time. Write down 10-15 goals EVERYDAY, they can be short term or long term. The key to doing this is never look at what you wrote the day before, just write. This will give motivation everyday to always think fresh. Please do yourself a favor make sure you get to minimum 10 goals daily for your list. You give your mind a little workout by searching everyday for more and more goals. And by doing this day after day your subconscious will move you towards those goals.
Visualization- I found this method in one of my favorite books by John Assarf called The Answer. It's a practice best done twice a day, upon waking and when you close your eyes at bedtime. You should choose your most important goal, close your eyes and focus on exactly what the goal looks like, focus on how it makes you feel when you are experiencing this new goal. Are there any smells, sounds let your mind work, experience everything. One of my most important sales goals came to surface by using visualization.
Affirmations- I use this upon waking, afternoon and at bedtime. I write them down and I also say them to myself. By doing so, my subconscious mind gets fixed on these affirmations. I've gotten over a serious anxiety issue using this 2-3 times per day. I've seen a few different ways of doing this, I use the " I am...." method. Start each sentence by affirming I AM then an action, fill in the rest. Here's a couple of examples:
I am feeling very confident
I am presenting products with ease to customers
If you every get the chance to study affirmations you will understand how important they are to help you get ahead in life. It's an amazing practice, I will continue to do them daily.
So I've presented you with 3 different things you should start doing daily. There are a few more things, but you could get overwhelmed and we can cover these in later blogs or even when the book is complete.
This is the start to getting towards a positive attitude and even helping you overcome mental blocks along the way. By doing so you will find motivating others to buy what your selling will come with more ease.
Keep motivating
